Community Policing

Community policing requires police and citizens to join together as partners in the course of identifying and effectively addressing issues that directly and indirectly affect the community as a whole. Community policing focuses on crime and social disorder through the delivery of police services that includes aspects of traditional law enforcement, as well as prevention, problem-solving, community engagement, and partnerships.  Community Policing balances reactive responses to calls for service with proactive problem-solving centered on the causes of crime and disorder.  With this union, Atlantic Beach will continue to be a place for all to enjoy in safety and serenity that we all deserve.

National Night Out 2009 a great success !

National Night Out was a huge success again this year. We wish to thank all our sponsors, volunteers and guests for making this event a wonderful time for everyone. Free prizes were again raffled off this year which included a GPS system, Bicycles, dinners at local restaurants and even a weeks vacation in either Boone, NC or Myrtle Beach, SC.

Over 400 hotdogs, 250 BBQ sandwiches, 240 slices of pizza were given away along with 600 sodas and 400 bottles of water were given away.

Message from the Chief

As Chief of Police this year marks my third being involved with this annual event and without a doubt our most successful year. Members of our department along with members of the Pine Knoll Shores Police Department as well as members of fire, emergency medical services personnel from both towns were on hand to serve citizens and visitors with food and entertainment, members of council from both towns were also on hand to meet, greet and lend a hand serving citizens.

I would like to thank Sergeant Jim Vaselovic (aka Jim E. V.) for his dedication to our annual event and for serving as the event coordinator 2007, 2008 and 2009 and the following businesses and departments who without this event, would not be possible.
